I was diagnosed with a rare form of breast cancer back in 1998.  I was blessed, because several years before that, my husband passed away.  The night he died, his employer stopped my health insurance coverage.  Yup, they do that.  For several years, I tried to get by without any health insurance.  My son was covered on his Dad’s (my ex), so I thought I could squeak by.

I decided to get health coverage because I was having a lot of pain from my osteoarthritis.  Thank God!  I was diagnosed the following year with cancer.  So, I did not have to wait for coverage. 

I know that I am one of the lucky ones, but I see the ones who aren’t so lucky every day.  I run Rare-Cancer.org  I help people every day try to find someone who will pay for their cancer treatments.  Those who thought ‘it will never happen to me’.  But, it does!

We need some type of universal health care in the country.  And, we need one that covers all adults, not just kids.  Debilitating and even terminal diseases do not discriminate based on age, race, sex, religion, etc……..

My number one priority with this election:
Universal Health Coverage For All!
