HOW TO CONTACT THE DNC RULES COMMITTEE, WHAT THEY NEED TO KNOW AND WHAT YOU CAN TELL THEM
Below are the members of the Democratic rules committee and their contact information. You can let them know that you will accept nothing less than all the Florida and Michigan delegates be seated and that they can and should find other ways to punish party leaders for what amounts to nothing more than a scheduling conflict, other than disenfranchising 2.7 million voters. You could also add that if they are not all seated you will never give another donation to the DNC for anything.
Allan Katz and Ralph Dawson both Obama supporters have made the preposterous and intellectually dishonest statement that the elections in Florida and Michigan were "beauty contests" and not real elections. The only people who have a right to make that statement is the voters themselves and 3 million people did not show up for a beauty contest. How disingenuous and arrogant that statement is speaks for itself.
Katz also had the intellectual dishonesty to say that any solution to Florida and Michigan has to be one that "does not affect the the end result". Katz is proposing that the solution be cosmetic, crowing a beauty contest winner as long as it means absolutely nothing. Just another example how Obama and his supporters seem to infect this entire process with everything they do.
Katz obviously wants to conveniently forget what an election is supposed to do, which is exactly that -- affect the end result. He wants a solution to Florida and Michigan as long as it has no effect on the end result. This sounds more like a member of the Politburo talking than a member of what is supposed to be the Democratic National Committee.
It's clear that there are Obama supporters who are ready willing and able to subvert the entire democratic process in favor of their candidate and manipulate the "rules" to favor him. When the "rules" needlessly disenfranchise 3 million voters its "the rules" that need to go, not the voters and the DNC Rules Committee members need to be reminded of that. Anything less subverts the entire process. And this should be one more thing Democratic voters should keep in mind when this process is over.
It is also clear that the DNC Rules and their original remedy of taking away the right to vote of almost 3 million people over what amounted to nothing more than a parking violation, may, in the opinion of Arlen Specter and others be unconstitutional.
The Rules Committee is already expecting a large turnout from the Count The Votes Rally. But they need to know more. They need to know that if they compromise the democratic process there is going to be a heavy price paid by the DNC, financially, a price paid at the convention, and a price paid in the fall. If after what happened in Florida in 2000, if the Rules Committee supports any solution where votes aren't counted and delegates aren't seated, for any reason much less something as trivial as this, and if they allow Obama to benefit from his blocking the re-votes, they will make the Democratic Party's rules more important than democracy. It will make the party look like a joke. The Democrats cannot afford to send out a candidate who has an asterisk on their back. Their rules are not more important than democracy. And they need to know it.
